ABOUT PHOTO JOURNEY DESIGNS
THE JOURNEY
Meet Jana Ramlet, the creative force behind Photo Journey Designs.
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was ten years old, my dad placed an old Yashica rangefinder camera in my hands — a moment that quietly changed the course of my life.
What began as childhood curiosity slowly became something much deeper. From photographing horses and everyday life to becoming my high school’s photographer, the camera rarely left my side.
Over the years, photography became more than taking pictures. It became the way I connected with the world around me — noticing light, emotion, movement, wildlife, quiet moments, and the stories often hidden in everyday life.
THE WORLD THROUGH MY LENS
My journey eventually carried me from South Carolina to Colorado, and later to Minnesota, where I’m now based.
Along the way, the quiet beauty and coastal spirit of the Lowcountry sparked a deep love for the South that continues to inspire my work today. Each place shaped the way I see differently — from the stillness of coastal marshes and the rugged majestic beauty of Colorado to the wilderness of Minnesota, including a deep appreciation for the Boundary Waters, changing seasons, lakes, music, and community spirit that make this state so special.
Along the way, travel opened even more doors, allowing me to experience and photograph cultures, landscapes, wildlife, and communities throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, North America, Hawaii, and beyond.
Those experiences deepened not only my love for photography, but also my appreciation for people, culture, resilience, and the moments that connect us no matter where we come from. Some of the most meaningful parts of travel have never been the destinations themselves, but the human connection, kindness, and stories discovered along the way.
In 2020, during the stillness of the pandemic, everything finally came together. I created the name Photo Journey Designs, sketched out my logo, and began building a brand rooted in creativity, storytelling, curiosity, and authentic connection. What had been a lifelong passion was finally taking shape into something real.
BEYOND THE LENS
Today, my work blends travel, landscape, wildlife, editorial, and community storytelling photography — always guided by emotion and authenticity rather than perfection. I’m drawn to honest moments: early morning light, musicians lost in rhythm, wildlife encounters, fleeting expressions, and the quiet beauty people often pass by.
Photography has given me far more than images over the years. It has given me perspective, gratitude, and connection to people and places around the world. That is also why giving back became important to me.
A portion of proceeds from Photo Journey Designs **benefits and supports the mission of World Central Kitchen**, helping provide meals to communities impacted by disaster and crisis. No matter where we come from, food is something that connects all of us — a reminder of both our basic human needs and our shared humanity.
Supporting others locally is equally important to me. Through my ongoing “Feature Friday” series, I love highlighting local businesses, artists, musicians, nonprofits, and community stories — helping shine a light on the people and places that make communities feel alive and connected. For me, photography has never only been about images. It’s about storytelling, encouragement, human connection, and lifting up others.
Through Photo Journey Designs, my hope is simple: to create meaningful images that preserve moments, tell honest stories, and remind us of the beauty and humanity that still exists all around us.

GIVING BACK
Giving back has always been an important part of my journey. Through Photo Journey Designs, a portion of proceeds supports the mission of World Central Kitchen, helping provide fresh meals to communities impacted by disaster and crisis around the world.
Food has a unique way of bringing people together. No matter where we come from, sharing a meal reminds us of our common humanity. Supporting World Central Kitchen allows Photo Journey Designs to contribute, in a small way, to helping communities recover, rebuild, and find hope during difficult times.
